England Pet Passport & Quarantine Information
New
Rules for Pets entering England and the UK:
Pets
entering from countries that are
RABIES FREE
OR have a
LOW INCIDENCE OF RABIES:
If your pet is entering England from any of the above
countries prior to January 1, 2012, they will NOT be
quarantined if they meet both of the following conditions:
1. Microchip, vaccination and Blood Titer Test 6 months
prior to entry date. 2.
Ticks
and Tapeworm test just prior to dog, cat or pet travel
If your
pet is entering from any of the above countries after
January 1, 2012, they will NOT be quarantined if they meet
both of the following conditions: 1. Microchip and
vaccination at least 21 days prior to entry date. 2.
Tapeworm test just prior to travel.
If your
pet is entering England before January 1, 2012
from a
rabies country,
your pet will be quarantined for 6 months. If you are
entering after January 1, 2012, you pet will be quarantined
for 4 months.
PREPARING YOUR PET
Prior to vaccination, have your
veterinarian microchip your pet with an
ISO (International Standards Organization) compliant
microchip
that meets ISO Standards 11784/11785. This 15 digit
non-encrypted microchip is different than the microchips
commonly available in the US and Canada. If your pet has a
non-ISO microchip, then you need to carry your own scanner.
For more information on scanners, Click Here If the
microchip cannot be read then the pet will not be allowed to
enter England. England no longer accepts tattoos.
Ask your vet to test that the microchip works before and
after it has been fitted and each time your animal visits
the vet.
Your vet must then vaccinate your Dog, Cat or Pet with an
Inactive rabies vaccine after the microchip is installed. If
your animal has been vaccinated before it was fitted with a
microchip, it will have to be vaccinated again.
Note: Your dog or cat must be at least 3 months old before
being vaccinated.

PETS ENTERING
FROM A COUNTRY WITH A HIGH INCIDENCE OF
RABIES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING
ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS.
The pet must have a
serological (blood titre) test performed
at least 90 days prior to entering the
country. This test must be performed at
an approved laboratory.
Failure to comply
with these regulations will not only
mean that the pet is refused entry but
that the relevant authority in
consultation with an authorized vet can
decide to return the pet home, or place
the pet in quarantine at the expense of
the owner or natural person responsible
for pet; or as a last resort, without
financial compensation, put the pet down
where the return trip home or quarantine
cannot be envisaged.
All other pets
(birds, invertebrates, tropical fish,
reptiles, amphibia, mammals such as
rodents and rabbits) are not subject to
the regulations in respect of the
anti-rabies vaccination but may have to
meet other requirements as to a limit on
the number of animals and a certificate
to accompany them in respect of other
diseases. Owners traveling with pet’s
other than dogs, cats and ferrets are
strongly advised to seek further
information from the relevant authority
of their country and/or that of the
country of destination.
EUROPEAN
UNION FORM 998 VETERINARY CERTIFICATE
All of the Countries
of the EU have adopted the new
veterinary certificate that meets EU
rule 998 This form differs from the

Thank you for your kindness and attention with my dog Bucky, I appreciate your sensitivity.

I have been using Pet Taxi for close to 5 years. The service is great, they know ALL of the vets in Los Angeles and the surrounding areas AND the driver is pet friendly and professional. Their prices are reasonable, too, even with gas prices being close to 4.00 a gallon.
