Passport & Quarantine Information
IDENTIFICATION:
Your pet should be identified with a
microchip that meets ISO standards
11784/11785. This is a 15 digit ISO
compliant microchip that operates at
134.2 kHz. If your pet was vaccinated
prior to microchip insertion, your pet
must be revaccinated after insertion.
If your pet does not
have the ISO microchip then the owner
must provide their own scanner.
VETERINARY
CERTIFICATE – PET PASSPORT:
Your pet must be accompanied by the
bi-lingual certificate of the country
you are entering as prescribed by rule
EU 998. This pet passport must show that
the pet has been vaccinated against
rabies and certain other diseases by a
licensed veterinarian at least 21 days
prior to travel.
NOTE:

form 998 veterinary certificate and the
instructions for taking your pet into
Czech Republic at the end of this
document.
RESTRICTIONS:
Unvaccinated pets (dogs and cats only)
under 3 months old may enter an EU
Country, but there are additional
regulations that must be met. Certain
aggressive breeds of dogs are prohibited
from entry.
Pets entering an EU
Country for commercial purposes require
additional forms and different rules
apply.

PETS ENTERING
FROM A COUNTRY WITH A HIGH INCIDENCE OF
RABIES ARE SUBJECT TO THE FOLLOWING
ADDITIONAL REGULATIONS.
The pet must have a
serological (blood titre) test performed
at least 90 days prior to entering the
country. This test must be performed at
an approved laboratory.
Failure to comply
with these regulations will not only
mean that the pet is refused entry but
that the relevant authority in
consultation with an authorized vet can
decide to return the pet home, or place
the pet in quarantine at the expense of
the owner or natural person responsible
for pet; or as a last resort, without
financial compensation, put the pet down
where the return trip home or quarantine
cannot be envisaged.
All other pets
(birds, invertebrates, tropical fish,
reptiles, amphibia, mammals such as
rodents and rabbits) are not subject to
the regulations in respect of the
anti-rabies vaccination but may have to
meet other requirements as to a limit on
the number of animals and a certificate
to accompany them in respect of other
diseases. Owners traveling with pet’s
other than dogs, cats and ferrets are
strongly advised to seek further
information from the relevant authority
of their country and/or that of the
country of destination.
EUROPEAN
UNION FORM 998 VETERINARY CERTIFICATE
All of the Countries
of the EU have adopted the new
veterinary certificate that meets EU
rule 998 This form differs from the
International Veterinary Certificate
issued by Veterinarians in the United
States.
